The Client

The client is a prominent logistic company and operates a delivery service from Chennai where they hire 200+ rental vehicles from third-parties to deliver goods over road to different locations or destinations.

The Business Requirement

The client operates its logistics business using third party vehicles. Cost of transporting and delivering goods is based on the distance travelled on the particular day by the third-party vehicle. The biggest concern of this logistics client is the vendor claiming costs based on false data. So, the client wanted a best fleet management solution for monitoring the distance travelled by the third-party vehicle.

The Solution Implementation

A third-party logistics company was providing service to a client that didn’t have their own vehicles for transportation of goods. The client simply leased the third-party vehicles to transport their goods from one location to another. But the client faced a problem in this business scenario in calculating the distance travelled by the third party vehicle to raise invoice to the end client. The client did not have any updates on the location of the goods/consignments being transported, and the kilometres done by the vehicles. They needed this data from an effective vehicle monitoring solution as most of the 3PL payments will be based on the distance travelled by the vehicles.

Trinetra Wireless provided a GPS enabled fleet management solution to overcome this problem, by providing real-time information of the vehicles, along with the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) and the distance travelled. As value addition to the primary requirement of the client, a provision for marking the customer location / stoppage points was given using geozone module with multiple notifications, based on which various reports can be generated. Thus, the client armed with real-time data, instant alerts and reports can provide to their customers the goods received time and also pay for the kilometres that the leased vehicles had actually travelled. This vehicle tracking solution for the client now saves them miscellaneous costs and helps them improve their ROI.
